I'm a Gnome guy... but have been recently experimenting with KDE.
I think i was also caught with the Ubuntu(GNOME) craze that i never bothered to look at Kubuntu(KDE) up until last December.
The only thing I like about KDE is Kopete!
smash:so which one is easier to use if the user is a long time windows 98 or XP user?
i think KDE is a little bit more user-friemdly to people who are migrating or new to Linux since it looks like the windows interface.
A co-worker of mine best describes this:
"GNome is for geeks, KDE is for wimps."
Its his opinion not mine
cruizer:exactly the opposite.KDE is highly configurable while GNOME strives for simplicity and usability. that's why Linus Torvalds likes KDE. and KDE people are highly technical, while GNOME appeals to the plain users and business users.i won't say that GNOME is for wimps though coz i actually prefer it years back KDE was so much faster than GNOME but today there's no noticeable performance difference anymore.
I guess i'm really a business type of user when it comes to Linux which is why i prefer Gnome.
