Big Smile [:D] Whats your favorite Linux Distribution?

What's your favorite Linux distro? I have Mandiva and Ubuntu installed on my machine and I must say that this two are my favorite distros. Ease of use and stability are the factors that made me say that I like them. Even my mom use to use Linux on my old machine(OpenOffice).

I've been playing with Linux since Slackware 7 and since then I have been an avid fan of Linux. You? Whats your favorite distro?

Re: Whats your favorite Linux Distribution?

ive only one box here at work pero meron akong apat na HDs.

    40GB - ubuntu 5.04 hoary
    10GB - kubuntu 5.04 hoary
    6.4GB - debian sarge
    6.4GB - debian sarge

im planning to install slack and *bsd on those two 6.4GB HDs and play with 'em. also, i might scrap kubuntu and install pure debian instead dun sa 10GB.

i dunno really what made me switch to linux Big Smile [:D] probably its the interest to learn more whats exactly happening behind the system. well, maybe one can also do it with windows but not as precise as in linux wherein you have practically all the control on how your system works (correct me if im wrong, please). or maybe its just the surge of adrenaline whenever i get to explore the "complexities" of the system hahahah trying to master the command-line approach to things is like taming your(my, if i have one) girlfriend nyahahhahahBig Smile [:D]

    aheheh! cool! :)

I'm really a Windows user loving the Linux environment. I also have one machine running on Windows but I have the my Linux installs as Virtual Machines using Virtual PC. I use Mandrake and Ubuntu once in a while kasi I do some Java, PHP and Mono development on the side(I'm currently a .NET developer) doing some apps and beta testing for some clients and friends. I think i got hooked to Linux because of curiousity.

I prefer debian. There's ubuntu and Mepis. Ubuntu is quite good but there's seems to have a bit problem in terms with sounds. Mepis is quite good.

    apt-get's the reason why... :)

    cheers,

    ubuntu! ubuntu! ubuntu!

the latest 6.06 LTS version is really cool and the hardware support has improved greatly too. can't wait to see what Edgy Eft (next year) will have in store for us users...maybe Xgl working out of the box? or Mono 1.2? :)

it's not hype, ubuntu really rocks

My favorite is Gentoo. It's very flexible and give you a lot of nice stuff plus gives you a certain amount of control. I love Gentoo's portage system. Gentoo's like a combination of Linux and FreeBSD Smile

the last time I used Linux was two years ago. Mandrake pa noon (Mandriva na ngayon). Last night, I used a Mono Live just to delete a folder with virus in windows. Hehe.

Re: Whats your favorite Linux Distribution?

I've been using Ubuntu Linux for two year already. So far, it is a nice alternative to Windows when I feel like it. Besides that, I feel much more comfortable developing programs there than I do in Windows. Perhaps it was because of way too much propaganda by one of my professor about how Ubuntu is a safe programming environment.

So, you might find me programming something in Ubuntu more often than programming in Windows. But given that I am beginning to explore DirectX, I might find myself programming in Windows more often in the near future.

Re: Whats your favorite Linux Distribution?

I love Ubuntu Linux. It's the best distro I've ever used. I have the option of doing things like a geek when I feel like it and the option of doing things the easy way when I'm spooked off of doing things the hard way. :)

I also like the community behind Ubuntu(unlike other distros). They're kind, intelligent and most important of all, understanding like the Java community.

It's been 2 years since I last used Linux... -_-
